Scholarships for rural students studying medicine
Applications close on Monday 16 January 2012, 5.00pm AEDST.
The RAMUS Scheme is funded by the Australian Government and assists selected students with a rural background to study medicine at university. In addition to their rural background, RAMUS scholarship holders are selected on the basis of financial need and demonstrated commitment to working in rural Australia in the future.
The Scheme is aimed at attracting more doctors to rural and remote Australia.
The RAMUS Scheme supports a total of 573 current scholarship holders increasing to 580 total current scholarship holders from 2012. About 120 new scholarships are awarded each year through a competitive application round.
The National Rural Health Alliance administers the RAMUS Scheme on behalf of the Department of Health and Ageing.
