From the 7th March through to the 11th March our SFF™ team travelled to Minlaton on the Yorke Penisula and Spalding in South Australia to deliver workshops 2 and 3 of our Sustainable Farm Families™ program.
With the assistance of Primary Producers South Australia, Yorke Peninsula Alkaline Soils Group, Grains Producers SA, and Partners In Grain, we were able to continue the education delivered in Workshop 1 held in June 2015. Participants underwent follow-up health checks and received further education on topics such as mental health, cancer, respiratory health, and physical activity on farms.
All farmers had developed an action plan and reported fabulous progress which included nominating an Occupational Health and Safety Officer for their farming business, taking a holiday, following up with the doctor, doing a bowel screen and putting PTO guards back on.
Farmers reported that they appreciated the opportunity to “be more more proactive and to acknowledge the pros and cons within their life”.
